Police: Suspect who fled scene of a traffic crash following Leon County shooting incident is in custody

UPDATE:

The Groesbeck Police Department posted an update Sunday evening saying the Texas Department of Public Safety reported having the person in custody.

Law enforcement officers were looking for a person who fled the scene of a traffic crash near Farm to Market Road 3371 and State Highway 164 East following a shooting incident that occurred in Leon County, according to the Facebook post.

"There has been NO shooting in Limestone County and the person being sought is NOT an escaped inmate," the police department said.

Law enforcement agencies in Limestone County are searching for an at large fugitive in an area east of Groesbeck.

Agencies are searching within a 5 mile radius of Hwy. 164 and FM 3371 east of the Groesbeck area, according to the Limestone County Emergency Management Facebook page.

Residents in that area were urged to lock their doors and stay alert, the Facebook post said.

"If you are on the road, do not pick-up hitch hikers. If you notice anything suspicious in your area, do not approach the fugitive. Immediately call 911."
