LAMPASAS, TX — Lampasas voters approved the legal sale of alcohol in a ballot referendum.

Previously, in order for a restaurant to sell alcohol to patrons, they must make at least half of their profits from food sales. Now, the approval removed the food sale requirement.

This would allow breweries, wineries or bars to operate in Lampasas. Supporters say this can help boost business in Lampasas.

“This is something that got a lot of push back over the years in Lampasas. And I think it’s the right time, that’s why I supported it. I think a lot of people, by the number of votes, they supported it as well. It’s about helping the community forward. It’s about driving dollars into lampasas,” said Charlie Pratus, a small business owner.

The hope is that this will help bring more patrons to Lampasas and increase commerce.
