LAMPASAS, TX — Lampasas is competing to be a finalist for HGTV's "Hometown Takeover" series.

The show is hosted by Ben and Erin Napier. The pair will travel throughout the United States to help renovate small towns.

The Lampasas community gathered together to film a submission video, which featured the Lampasas Badgers, Congressman Roger Williams, and many members from the community.

In the submission letter, Mandy Love Walsh, the Economic Development Director for Lampasas, said being a part of the HGTV show would "not only finish what has been started but hopefully leave a legacy for at least the next 167 years."

In order to be considered, cities must have a population of less than 40,000, have buildings with outstanding architecture that would benefit from revitalization and include a Main Street that is in desperate need of a makeover.

CORRECTION: It was reported that Lampasas were finalist in the series. The Lampasas Heritage Foundation, Inc posted on Facebook that they are not finalist. "We would love for that to be true, but the deadline was only yesterday and at this point, as far as we know, we are simply one of many, many applicants."
