TEMPLE — A Temple police officer has quit the force, after being accused of making an unauthorized search in the Flock camera system.
In a news release, police sayan audit of its Automatic License Plate Reader, or ALPR, found a search that "appeared inconsistent with the system’s authorized use."
"A subsequent review conducted by the Internal Affairs Unit determined that the flagged search was conducted without a legitimate law enforcement purpose," the release said. "The officer was immediately placed on investigative leave and subsequently resigned from the Temple Police Department."
The department says even though the officer quit, the investigation will continue.
The release also said access to the Flock system "carries significant responsibility. Department policy strictly prohibits the use of this technology for anything other than a legitimate law enforcement purpose."
