HILLSBORO, Texas (KXXV) — Hillsboro City Council voted Tuesday to increase water rates.
The city says it approved a 15% increase in a vote of 4-2. Leaders also considered increases of 20% and 10%.
The city says the increase is necessary to address the needs of water customers and improvements.
"The reality is, we're in pretty.... the situation has gotten very real in terms of water and sewer and the demands on the system," said Megan Henderson, the city manager.
