Vehicle fire spreads to home, displaces resident in Harker Heights

HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas (KXXV) — A vehicle fire that spread to a nearby home displaced one resident Saturday afternoon in Harker Heights, according to the Harker Heights Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to the 1100 block of Indian Trail at approximately 2:38 p.m. on August 22 after receiving reports of a vehicle fire. Upon arrival, crews discovered the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames, with the fire having already extended to an adjacent residence.

The first engine company on scene immediately began attacking the blaze with water while a second unit conducted a primary search of the affected home. Fire officials confirmed the residence was clear of occupants during the search.

Fire Command declared the incident under control within minutes, at approximately 2:40 p.m., with complete extinguishment achieved by 2:45 p.m.

The vehicle sustained major fire damage while the residence suffered moderate damage from the flames. One person has been displaced from their home as a result of the fire.

The Harker Heights Fire Department deployed six units and 13 personnel to the scene. One civilian was evaluated and treated by emergency medical personnel on site before being released.

The cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation by the Harker Heights Fire Marshal's Office. No further details about the incident have been released at this time.
