WACO — Many evacuees fleeing the coast from Hurricane Laura arrived in Central Texas, and have begun running low on resources.

25 News spoke with two organizations actively aiding evacuees across the region, The Salvation Army and Operation Phantom Support.

Not only does The Salvation Army in Waco provide availability to a food pantry on week days, but seven days a week, all year round, the organization provides both breakfast and dinner at 7 A.M. and 5:30 P.M, while also providing grab and go lunches several days a week.

They welcome all who find themselves hungry to come pick up a take-out meal.

"Anybody can come and eat you don’t have to be homeless, You don’t have to be in great need, you just have to be hungry" said Major James Taylor.

Operation Phantom Support, typically open to military and first responders, told 25 News in response to the evacuees, their food pantry will be available to those in need from 10 A.M. until 2 P.M. Saturday August 29 2020.

Both the Salvation Army as well as Operation Phantom Support explained no one will be turned away, and in the case an evacuee needs something they can not provide, they will help assist in connecting the evacuee to other resources available.
