One woman dead, Hillsboro police searching for gunman after Walmart shooting

HILLSBORO, TX — A 27-year-old Fort Worth woman is dead after a shooting in a Hillsboro Walmart parking lot.

Rachel Marie Reeder of Ft. Worth has been identified as the victim.

Hillsboro police are searching for the gunman after the shooting.

On Thursday, October 22, 2020, at approximately 6:04 p.m. the Hillsboro Department of Public Safety Communications Center received a report of a gunshot fired in the parking lot at the Hillsboro Walmart, 401 Coke Street in Hillsboro.

Hillsboro Police Officers and Hillsboro Fire/Rescue responded to find a confrontation led to the discharge of a firearm in the parking lot, striking an occupant in a vehicle.

Reeder was airlifted to Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Waco for treatment but later succumbed to her injuries, according to the Hillsboro Department of Public Safety.

The name of the victim is being withheld until family can be located and notified.

The suspect was witnessed fleeing south in a black cross over style sport utility vehicle on the IH-35 Frontage Road.

The investigation continues.
