HILLSBORO, TX — Shortly before 8:00 PM on April 7, 2020, the Hill County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call in reference to a large piece of metal falling on a young child. Emergency providers Careflite, Air Evac, Hubbard Fire Department, and Deputies of the Hill County Sheriff's Office responded to the call.
During an investigation of the event, it was determined that the five-year-old male and his brother and his mother were all outside when the incident occurred. It appears that one of them accidentally ran into the piece of metal, which was sitting on two jack stands, causing it to fall and land on the victim's chest. The mother attempted to remove the large piece of metal but it was too heavy to lift.
Responding units performed CPR on the child, but unfortunately, the child was pronounced dead at the scene by Hill County Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Brad Henley.
