COPPERAS COVE, TX — A woman was killed after a head-on crash with an 18-wheeler on 190 in Copperas Cove on Friday.
Copperas Cove police said at approximately 12:59 a.m., a two-vehicle crash occurred on the US 190 Bypass in Copperas Cove. DPS responded to the scene.
A 2002 Ford passenger car was traveling eastbound and a 2019 Freightliner truck-tractor semi was heading westbound.
The Ford drove on the wrong side of the road into the path of the 18-wheeler. The vehicles collided head-on.
The driver of the Ford, 27-year-old Abigail Smith, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the semi, 52-year-old Steven Felix, was uninjured.
On Monday, bypass 190 was shut down for several hours due to an 18-wheeler crash.
The initial investigation revealed a Hyundai sedan was traveling westbound on 190 and an 18-wheeler truck and trailer was traveling eastbound. The Hyundai crossed onto the oncoming traffic lane and struck the 18-wheeler head on.
