H-E-B finally takes its well deserved place as No.1 U.S. grocery store

H-E-B was named the top grocer in a reportfrom data science firm Dunnhubby.

This is the first time the chain has been rated as No. 1. It overtook Trader Joe's for the spot.

They evaluated 60 U.S. retailers based on performance in price, quality, digital, operations, convenience, discounts/rewards and speed.

As in previous years, Dunnhumby revealed only the first quartile of finishers by rank. The 14 chains are as follows:

  1. H-E-B
  2. Trader Joe’s
  3. Amazon
  4. Market Basket
  5. Wegmans
  6. Costco
  7. Aldi
  8. Sam’s Club
  9. Walmart
  10. Publix
  11. WinCo
  12. Fresh Thyme Farmers Market
  13. Sprouts Farmers Market
  14. Shop Rite

New to the list is Publix, Fresh Thyme and Shopright.
