Girl dies after overnight house fire in Gatesville

GATESVILLE, TX — A 10-year-old girl has died after an overnight house fire in Gatesville.

Gatesville Fire, Police and Emergency Medical Service personnel responded to the 100 block of Oak Ln. just before midnight on Sunday.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found the back of the home engulfed in flame. The entire Harrington Family safe outside except for their 10-year-old daughter, Cheyenne.

Firefighters were able to get into the home and reach the girl.

Fire officials say, when they brought her outside, they found she was not breathing.

She was brought to Temple for treatment where she flatlined and later died.

Sheila Whipkey, Cheyenne's grandmother said "we need help paying for the funeral, we were not prepared for this at all."

A GoFundMe has been created for the family.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
