MARLIN, TX — Falls County Sheriff Rickey Scaman says he's one step closer to putting one of Falls County's biggest drug dealers behind bars.

The sheriff and his entire staff of deputies served search warrants around 8:30 p.m. Friday night at two homes, one in east and another in west Marlin.

At one home they found illegal prescription medication, and a few other items. The house on the east side of town showed evidence of serving as a so-called "cook house" for crack cocaine.

Sheriff Scaman says market forces have made cocaine, long a memory in many peoples' minds, a sometimes more affordable alternative to methamphetamine for those addicted.

In fact, after their initial search, deputies later found two big bags of "crack" and their suspect's identification at the west Marlin home.

"Cocaine is making a comeback," said Sheriff Scaman. "I don't know if its because the price of methamphetamine is driving the cocaine and crack cocaine comeback, but I can definitely say that's most likely the culprit."

The sheriff said more than one informant has told authorities the dealer, who remains unnamed to the public, operated out of both homes.
