BELL COUNTY, TX — Early voting is underway for municipal election in Bell County. The period is scheduled April 22-30 for most communities.

Belton opened the polls Monday with dozens of people coming to cast their ballot.

“Somewhere around half of people that will vote will do it early, so it just allows a convenience factor that people may want to take advantage of,” said Paul Romer, spokesperson for the City of Belton.

Copperas Cove is holding a special election for the mayoral seat. Mayor Frank Seffrood died unexpectedly in December.

Early voting ends on Tuesday. The election day is set for Saturday.

“The numbers have been down so far, we are just under 400 votes have been cast so far during early voting. Election day we hope to get more people out to cast their votes,” said Kevin Keller, spokesperson for City of Copperas Cove.

In Killeen, voters will decide on city council seats for district two, three and four. Only voters living in each district may vote for their representative. The district one election was canceled when incumbent Shirley Fleming ran unopposed.

The first and last days of early voting in Killeen, April 22 and 30, will offer extended hours from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Voting April 23-26 and 29 will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Voters may use any of the four early voting locations to cast ballots for any district.

Before heading to the polls, voters are reminded to read the ballot before arrival. Voter information in Killeen can be found here.
