CORSICANA, TX — Dr. Kent Rogers, Medical Director for the Corsicana/Navarro County Health Department, has passed away after a battle with COVID-19.

"It is with great sadness that we inform you that Dr. Kent Rogers passed away this afternoon at 2:01 PM with his family by his side," the Navarro County Office of Emergency Management Facebook page posted Saturday.

A post on Dr. Rogers' Facebook page confirmed the news saying the health director used every available treatment for COVID-19 "but already diminished lung capacity made recovery difficult."

According to the post, Dr. Rogers made the decision to move to comfort care only after facing the choice of being on a ventilator for a long term.

"Dr. Rogers has been at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19 here in Navarro County as our Local Health Authority," the Navarro County Office of Emergency Management post said. "His leadership and key stakeholder knowledge have been invaluable as we have navigated this this entire pandemic."

The post on Dr. Rogers' page said he asked to pass along a message to wear a mask, wash your hands and stay 6 feet away.
