COPPERAS COVE, TX — Students across Copperas Cove ISD gathered around the flag pole Wednesday morning to join each other in a moment of prayer and reflection.

Copperas Cove High School is just one of many schools across the country that participated in the “See You at the Pole” prayer circle.

Russel Rochran, one of the student leaders at Copperas Cove High School, took part in the event and said that everyone was invited.

“Anyone who wants to come is invited. They might see us and say hey what is that? Those are the kinds of questions that are important to us,” Cochran said.

School districts across the United States participated in the student-led and student-initiated event which occurs on the fourth Wednesday of September each year.

Adults often pray in support of the students or gather nearby, but the event is purely student driven.

Noah Spitzer, a 3rd grader at Williams Ledger Elementary in Copperas Cove, said that he hoped his fellow students would join him in a moment of prayer.

“They should come to see you at the pole with me so they can tell other children at other elementary schools that they have a safe place,” Spitzer said.
