WEST, TX — Update: Lt. Col. Allen West is set to be released from the hospital, Baylor Scott & White, today. He is in good spirits and is looking forward to returning home for his recovery.

Lt. Col. Allen West, a former congressman, was involved in a motorcycle accident outside of Waco Saturday.
On his drive back from the “Free Texas Rally” in Austin, TX, Lt. Col. Allen West was struck by a fellow motorcyclist when a car cut in front of them, according to his spokesperson.
Lt. Col. Allen West is currently running for the Chair of the Republican Party of Texas.
According to DPS, Troopers responded to a crash on IH 35 Northbound near mile marker 353 in West, Texas.
An unidentified vehicle changed lanes when unsafe in front of two motorcyclists. The motorcyclist attempted to brake, and the rear motorcyclist crashed into the front motorcyclist.
He was transported by helicopter to Baylor Scott & White in Waco.
West dealt with a concussion, several fractured bones, and multiple lacerations, according to his spokesperson.
Lt. Col. West stated, “that I am alive by the grace of God.”
He will resume his regular calendar of activities upon clearance by his medical team.
