CALVERT, TX. — The Calvert Fire Department hosted a breakfast fundraiser on Saturday morning for the Jackson family. "Flapjacks for the Jackson's" helped raise money for a family that has dedicated over four decades to protecting the community.

This past March, Dorinda Jackson was diagnosed with Large Diffuse B Cell Lymphoma and is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments.

Joe Jackson has served as a front line firefighter, assistant chief, and currently continues to lead the department as chief while Dorinda faithfully served alongside over the years, always present as an auxiliary member helping to rehab firefighters during emergency events and leading the charge to raise funds in support of the needs of the department and the community at large.

Hundreds of people showed up throughout the morning for the breakfast to support the Jacksons's.

Firefighter Andrew Patterson says he knows the community will continue to support the Jackson's through it all.

"It's sad to see her struggling with her diagnosis but what is great that we have the community surrounding around her and supporting her, and I'm so thankful we can bring this [event] to life for both of them," said Patterson.
