NAVARRO COUNTY, TX — Officials announced an outdoor burn ban is now in effect for Navarro County beginning Monday, Aug. 12.

The Navarro County Commissioners Court said the ban is based off current "KBDI values, forecast weather conditions, and an abundance of dry fuels."

The ban was enacted, with provisions, at a Navarro County Commissioners Court meeting on Monday at 10 a.m.

Officials urge residents to follow all guidelines for the burn ban. The guidelines can be found here.

The order remains in effect for 90 days, or until the Commissioners Court expires the ban and determines conditions no longer create a public safety hazard that would be exacerbated by outdoor burning.

Violating the order does carry the potential of a Class C Misdemeanor and fine of up to $500.
