Bryan PD: Robbery suspect shot during struggle over gun

BRYAN, TX — A robbery suspect was shot during a struggle over his gun after entering a residence at 2 a.m. Sunday in Bryan. The incident occurred in the 1200 block of California Street.

Police say the suspect entered the home with a gun and demanded money from the male and female occupants inside the home. The male victim told police he and the suspect then struggled over the gun and it went off, hitting the suspect. Police say the suspect then fled from the home.

According to officials, one hour before the call came in, a man was admitted to CHI St. Joseph Hospital with a gunshot wound. Police believe these two incidences are connected, and that it is an isolated incident.

Neither of the victims were injured. The gunshot victim was admitted to the hospital and is in stable condition, said officials.

This investigation is ongoing and was turned over to the Criminal Investigation Division.
