BOSQUE COUNTY (KXXV) — The mandatory evacuation notice for the City of Meridian has been canceled at this time but residents are warned this may change on short notice, according to the Bosque County Sheriff's Office.
Those returning home is encouraged to remain prepared and evacuate quickly.
Residents located in the area of SH 6 from CR 3105 to SH 22 in Meridian and SH 22 from SH6 to FM 2136 are encouraged to remain evacuated.
Meridian High School is being used as a shelter.
The large brush fire ignited in Bosque County Monday, according to the Clifton Texas Police.
Fire crews from across the county are working on the fire near State Highway 6 and County Road 1035. The fire is estimated to be burning around 400 acres with 0% containment.
The public is being asked to avoid the area.
The Baptist Church and Clifton Civic Center are open for shelters.
Officials say pets are welcome at the evacuation center if they are non-vicious and a pet. Livestock are not to be taken to the shelter.
Water restrictions
The City of Clifton is also asking all residents and businesses to stop all outdoor watering until further notice as the city is under Stage 2 Mandatory Water Restrictions due to the Hydra Fire.
Residents should:
- Turn off all irrigation and sprinkler systems.
- Not hand water lawns or landscaping.
- Be conservative with all household and business water use.
The restrictions are mandatory and will be enforced. The City's utility system tracks water usage with time and date stamped data.
