A Belton woman is receiving national recognition for her work with ill and injured veterans.

Kathy Dunham was named a top member of the DAV (Disabled American Veterans) Auxiliary for 2019.

According to DAV Auxillary, Dunham is a founding member of DAV Auxillary Unit #22 in Nolanville. During her time with the unit, Dunham has served in many leadership roles. She is involved with the unit's Transportation Network, which provides free transportation to Veterans Affairs medical facilities for injured and ill veterans.

Dunham has helped the Central Texas veteran community by creating a monthly ice cream social, unit clothing drive, and Women Veterans Clothes Closet, which provides clothing for transitioning, underemployed and homeless women veterans.

Dunham will be presented with the DAV Auxillary Outstanding Member of the Year award at the 98th National Convention on August 3 in Orlando, Florida.
