WACO, TX — National Donate Life Month is celebrated in April to honor those who gave an organ donation. Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest introduced a new ceremony when a family chooses to donate their loved one's organs.

Any time a donation is given at the hospital a private flag raising will take place to honor and thank the donor and the donor's family.

The ceremony will happen each time a donation is given.

"I believe it will provide additional meaning to everything that we believe about this program and most of all the continuation of life to the recipients," said Glenn Robinson, President of Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest.

Organ donation is so important, one person has the ability to save eight lives and help countless others when donating.

The Texas Organ Sharing Alliance (TOSA) works with families in their time of heartache, thanking them for their donation and helping them connect and understand who it was that was saved through the donor.

In the business of saving lives, TOSA is thrilled to hear about the new program at Baylor Scott & White.

"The families can feel some comfort in the decision that they made for their loved ones to be organ donors," said Michelle Segovia, Director of Communications from TOSA. "They had the worst day of their lives losing a loved one but they're able to make something positive come from their tragedy."
