6-year old girl passes after fatal school bus incident in Conroe, TX

CONROE, TX — A child named Sophia was fatally struck trying to catch her school bus in Conroe Tuesday, according to KTRK.

The incident occurred at 7:30 a.m. on 2200 block of 1st Street in Conroe, TX.

Conroe Police say Sophia ran in front of the bus and was struck as the driver began pulling away from the bus stop.

After on-scene attempts by medics, Sophia was rushed to Texas Children's Hospital in The Woodlands, where she later succumbed to her injuries.

Conroe police, as part of their on-going investigation of this fatal incident, have interviewed witnesses and reviewed the school bus's dash cam footage.

In light of this incident, students and staff at Anderson Elementary School will have access to crisis counselors; this according to school district officials, whom added in statement, "We are heartbroken and our thoughts and prayers are with the family and all who have been impacted by this devastating loss."
