A community is raising money for one of their own after the 14-year-old daughter of a police officer was hit by a truck.
According to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, on August 28, 14-year-old Kylee Howell, daughter of Hico Police officer Tristan Herbert, was hit by a truck while trying to get her dog from the roadway on Highway 281.
Kylee was care flighted to Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth and will need to be hospitalized for an "uncertain amount of time."
The community has started a fund in order to help Kylee and her family with medical expenses. As of 3 p.m. on Thursday, August 29, the group has raised $150 out of the $2,500 goal.
