Killeen Police arrest suspect in Vanessa Guillen memorial vandalism

KILLEEN, TX — The Killeen Police Department arrested the suspect that vandalized the Vanessa Guillen mural located at 904 N. Fort Hood Street.

Lewis Mbote was located and arrested in the 100 block of West Avenue G in Killeen. He was transported to the Bell County Jail without incident.

On October 1, 2020, surveillance video captured a male dressed in dark color clothing, kicking and breaking multiple candles that were placed in honor of Spc. Guillen.

Through the investigation, detectives were able to identify the suspect. An arrest warrant for Criminal Mischief was obtained for 29-year-old Lewis Mbote.
