LORENA, TX — A lot of people born in March are having a very difficult birthday thanks to social distancing. However, the community came together in Lorena to make one little girl feel special despite the situation.

9-year-old Emmy turned 9 years old on Tuesday, and her family says her heart is as big as Texas and she loves animals. She had a birthday party planned for her at Blitz MMA that she was looking forward to, but was canceled amid the COVID-19 outbreak.

Her mom was determined to still give her daughter a birthday every 3rd grader would love and made a Facebook page asking family and friends to decorate their car and make signs. She wanted to give Emmy her own birthday parade.

She also highly encouraged participants to bring their pets.

They even set up a table for anyone who wanted to drop off a gift.

Most of the time you could see Emmy running up and down our yard waving at friends and family she misses dearly, her mom said.

When she got tired of running you could find her resting on her pet donkey, Pancho, who was in attendance of the parade also.

"The parade was a big success and the easiest "party" I've ever planned! She had a huge smile the whole time and the attendees seemed to enjoy themselves just as much as she did," her mom added.
