Community gathers to honor police, first responders and military

KILLEEN, TX — For the September 5 edition of Central Texas Living Ann Harder spoke with Naomi Roupe and Angenet Wilkerson about the 14th Annual Freedom Walk hosted by Killeen ISD.

The14th Annual Freedom Walk is happening September 11 at Killeen High School from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. This event offers an opportunity for community members to come together to commemorate the lives that were lost in-service to others on 9/11/01. The purpose of the Walk is to recognize and pay tribute to local heroes, including First Responders, Police Officers, Fire Fighters , and members of the Armed Forces and Veterans.

The event is open to the public and free to participate. The program takes place inside the auditorium at Killeen High School with State Representative Brad Buckley serving as the Keynote Speaker; doors open at 8:30am. The event concludes with a walk around the track at Leo Buckley Stadium.
