HILLSBORO, TX — May 1 marks two years since the brutal murder of Justin Wayne Bibles. The 32-year-old father will be remembered in a vigil and balloon release at his gravesite in Hillsboro but as 25 News investigates, the family is still seeking justice for Justin.

New music from Justin, cousin Sunny McGruder, and Slimmatic will also be released on the second anniversary of his death. The song is called "Units" and was recorded before Justin's death.

"We have a million questions. Not one answer" said Sunny.

Sunny and Justin were more like brothers than cousins. Both pursuing music.

"I want everybody to understand what they took from us. He meant the world to me. He still means the world to me. His spirit is still here," said Sunny.

Sunny also wrote a new song called "I Know" and will shoot the music video at Justin's grave on Friday.

"The song I wrote is a childhood letter I wrote to him from me. From then to now. I don't leave nothing out. If it's real, we're going to speak on it," said Sunny.

Especially in the on-going search for his killer.

"My message to Waco Police is they've got to do better. The detective says she's waiting on the streets to talk. The streets aren't hired as the Waco Police Department. That's your job. You're the investigator. It all of a sudden went cold," said Sunny who wants the killer to be tried through the justice system, not the streets.

Waco Police arrested Kenneth James Smith for the killing in 2018 just days after the shooting in the parking lot of the Red Lobster in Waco but in December of 2018, a McLennan grand jury did not indict.

Last year, 25 News tracked Smith down to the McLennan County Jail awaiting sentencing for unrelated charges. Today he is in a Texas Department of Criminal Justice prison for those crimes.

Smith declined a 25 Investigates request for an interview and so did his attorney.

Waco Police tells 25 Investigates, Smith is still a suspect.

Justin's mother Zada Bridgewater said in a 2019 interview, she has one message for Smith.

"All I can say is you're a coward. Kenny Smith, you're a coward. Yes he is," said Bridgewater.

"11:18 am marks two years," said Sunny. "The family is still together. We're still screaming Justice for Justin. Family above all" said Sunny.

And they'll keep fighting for justice until the case is closed...not cold.

The music video shoot for "I Know" and the balloon release and vigil happens Friday, May 1, 2020, at Justin's grave at Ridge Park Cemetery in Hillsboro.

According to TDCJ records, Smith is scheduled for release from prison in 2022.
