GRAND PRAIRIE, TX — A 20-year-old woman has been arrested after police said she intentionally burned her stepdaughter.

Grand Prairie police said that Dalia Jimenez, 20, was arrested and charged for intentionally harming her stepdaughter.

On May 13, police responded to a report of a child who had been burned. Police said that Jimenez told officers that the injury to the child had been the result of an accident lighting a candle. Jimenez confessed that she had poured rubbing alcohol on the child's face and used a lighter to set her on fire.

She told officers she did it because the child was yelling.

The father of the child was not present at the time of the accident.

The injured child and a younger sibling were removed from the home.

Jimenez is charged with injury to a child and has since bonded out of jail.
