Walmart has hired 22,500 Texans after the business pledged to hire 200,000 new associates last month.
Walmart says of the 200,000 additional associates they've hired since March 2020, 22,500 of them were hired in Texas.
"This hiring initiative was aimed at providing jobs, while helping Walmart better serve customers during this time of increased demand," Walmart said. "Many of these roles will be temporary and serve as a bridge for Texans to get through this difficult time, while others will convert to permanent roles."
Walmart says the recent hires add to the many ways their store is ensuring its associates have the support they need while providing an essential service to their communities.
