MADISONVILLE, TX — A post is going viral of a DPS trooper and a man praying together.
Lanell McGee James said that she was traveling to Dallas on Sunday going through Madisonville when she was pulled over for a non-speeding violation.
James said the trooper asked her where she was headed, and she told him to Dallas because there was a death in the family. She told the trooper her husband's brother had died.
The trooper asked, "Do you know where he is?"
She responded, "Yes he is at the morgue."
Trooper Bates told her, "No, he is in his heavenly home."
She said after the trooper said those words, both she and her husband were in tears. Her husband's brother's death was very unexpected. The trooper went to his vehicle to run her I.D. and returned with a warning. Then, he did something unexpected.
He asked if he could pray with them. The photo shows that moment.
James said in her post, "With so much going on nowadays with police killing people and people killing the police as well as racial tensions, I felt compelled to share this picture"
