Two dead in Montgomery County plane crash

WOODBRANCH, Texas — Two people are dead after a small plane crashed in Montgomery County Sunday morning.

Texas Department of Safety identified the two people who died in the crash as Nodal Aoki, 41, of Porter, and Karthik Balakrishnan, 46, of Pearland, according to KTRK. Aoki was behind the controls of the small aircraft.

Troopers with the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to a Fixed Wing Single-Engine (N26136) plane crash in the neighborhood of Linnwood/Elm St in Woodbranch, Texas.

The single-engine aircraft was a Grumman AA-5A Cheetah, which has four seats and was registered to a licensed pilot in Porter, according to FAA records obtained by KTRK.

A resident of Woodbranch, who is also a pilot, said he heard the engine quit then the plane and engine start again when he heard the crash between two houses.

At the time of the crash there was fog with some drizzle.

FAA were investigating.
