AUSTIN, TX — The incident happened Thursday at Commons Ford Ranch Metro Park in Austin and was captured on video.
Ranger Cassidy Stillwell can be seen talking to a crowd of people.
He was telling them to disperse because they were not maintaining a distance of six feet from each other.
They were also allegedly drinking and smoking illegally on the dock.
25-year-old Brandon Hicks is accused of pushing Stillwell into the lake.
Stillwell pulls the suspect into the water with him but the man then flees the scene.
Hicks is facing an attempted assault on a public servant charge.
If convicted, he could be sentenced up to two years in jail.
His lawyer says he does not know yet how hicks will plead.
His next court date is June nineteenth.
