LEANDER, TX — The Texas Texas Humane Heroes rescued four high medical-needs dogs from Hidalgo County Thursday.

The agency says the animals were strays running through an abandoned area. When TXHH arrived, the dogs appeared to be malnourished and have painful skin conditions.

All of the dogs have been examined by vet techs. Some will be examined again by vet partners for possible leg injuries.

TXHH says the dogs will take weeks, possibly months, to rehabilitate.

“Texas Humane Heroes is proud to be a part of this rescue mission to save the lives of these abandoned dogs. With dedicated veterinary treatment and daily health care, we hope each of these dogs is able to recover from the severe skin conditions and malnourishment they suffered from living on the street. We plan to care for these animals until they are healthy enough to be adopted into their forever homes," said Jeff Struchtemeyer, President & CEO.
