PANOLA COUNTY, TX — A Panola County Sheriff's Office deputy was killed in the line of duty on New Year's Eve.
KGAS reports that the deputy was shot and killed during a traffic stop around 2 a.m. The incident happened outside of Carthage.
The Texas Rangers are investigating.
The suspect has been identified as Gregory Newsom. He is in police custody.
