Texas A&M Commerce has canceled classes after a deadly shooting at an off-campus homecoming party.

Gunshots rang out about 11:45 p.m. Saturday at The Party Venue, an event space located on a sparsely populated stretch of Highway 380. Two people were killed and 14 were injured.

On Monday night, the university announced classes would be canceled for Tuesday, October 29 and Wednesday, October 30. All essential services, including residential life and dining operations, will be open on a normal schedule.

Counseling is also available for faculty, students and staff.

Twenty three-year-old Brandon Ray Gonzales was arrested Monday for capital murder of multiple persons.

He is currently in the Hunt County Jail with a $1 million bond.
