MINERAL WELLS, TX — The historic Baker Hotel has been bought by several Dallas-Fort Worth developers, who have plans to revive the building. WFAA posted on their twitter that developer Laird Fairchild has purchased the hotel with the intent to restore it.

"We have bought the Baker Hotel and we will begin to restore it immediately," Fairchild said in a press conference outside the hotel Thursday.

The Baker Hotel's website says that the building has been standing in Mineral Wells since 1929. The building had been falling into decay, but now there are plans to rebuild. The website says there will be a three-year restoration plan for the Spanish revival, which has 157 rooms and a full spa, among other amenities.

WFAA reports that hundreds of people were outside the building cheering about the jobs that will be created as a result of the project.
