Preliminary reports found mold in Brazos County Juvenile Justice Center

BRAZOS COUNTY, TX — Brazos County officials are relocating people from certain areas of the R. J. Holmgreen Brazos County Juvenile Justice Center after a presence of mold was found.

According to officials, Juvenile Services Director Linda Ricketson requested testing after some employees expressed concerns.

Preliminary tests have found the presence of Stachybotrys in four of the 20 areas tested.

They will not be allowed into the affected areas until remediation is completed.

The county said that they were in the process of contracting with a company for mold remediation.

Initial testing found three general areas of conern in the building: classrooms and a waiting area.

Wallpaper removal and air duct cleaning will take place to address the areas of concern.
