Police officer, firefighter killed while responding to accident in Lubbock

LUBBOCK, TX — A firefighter and police officer were killed after being struck by a vehicle while working a vehicle collision this morning in Lubbock.

According to KCBD, another firefighter is in critical condition after the crash.

Crews were responding to a single-vehicle rollover crash on I-27 and Drew Street when the accident happened.

The firefighter has been identified as Lieutenant David Eric Hill, and the firefighter that is in critical condition been identified as Matthew Kenneth Dawson.

Police have identified the officer as Nicholas Reyna. The police department said that 27-year-old Officer Nicholas Reyna served with the Lubbock Police Department for one year. Following the academy, he served on patrol during the day shift.
