HOUSTON, TX — UPDATE:
The body of a young girl was found in a southeast Houston bayou Sunday morning as crews searched for a missing 2-year-old.
Crews located the body of a young African American female Sunday morning in Brays Bayou in the 5200 block of Carrolton Street, Houston Fire Dept. officials told KTRK.
Houston Police confirmed the body of a small child was found in Brays Bayou but said there is no ID or cause of death at this time.
"Based on what we know, we believe there is a high probability this is her," said Houston's Police Chief during a press conference.
Police are highly confidant foul play is involved and are now investigating this as a homicide.
There are no leads or suspects, according to Police Chief Acevedo. He is asking people in the area to search their security cameras.
The mother of the child indicated that she left Maliyah for a few minutes in the apartment complex playground before she disappeared, according to police.

Houston Police are asking for the public's help in finding a missing 2-year-old girl.
Maliyah "Tootie" Bass was last seen playing at 10600 Beechnut in Houston at 9:30 a.m. on Aug. 22.
She is 3-feet-tall and weighs between 38 and 40 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes.
She had on a multi-colored tank top, multi-colored shorts and had a pink & white pillow case with letter blocks inside, according to police.
A regional Amber Alert was issued overnight for Maliyah after HPD and TexasEquuSearch spent Saturday searching for her, police said.
