Fugitive wanted for sexual assault of a child under 14 last seen in Texas

A fugitive wanted in California for sexual assault of a child under the age of 14 was last seen in Texas.

The FBI is asking for the community's help in locating 24-year-old Jose Arturo Navarrete, Jr. He was wanted for federal unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

On June 14, 2019, a felony arrest warrant was issued for Navarrete after he was charged with four counts of lewd and lascivious act with a child under 14, three coundts of sex act with a child ten-years-old or younger, and four counts of oral sex with a child ten-years-old or younger.

Court documents show he fled prosecution in Sacramento County for multiple criminal counts of sexual assault of a child under the age of 14.

On August 22, 219, a federal warrant was issued in the United States District Court in Sacramento for Navarrete after he was charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

Navarrete was born in Midland, Texas. He is described as a Hispanic man, 5 feet 11 inches tall, 172 pounds with black hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen in Texas and may be in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas or Mexico.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that results in his arrest. Anyone with information is asked to contact the FBI Sacramento Field Office at 916-746-7000 or contact the nearest FBI Field Office or U.S. Embassy. Tips may also be submitted anonymously to tips.fbi.gov.
