AMARILLO, TX — The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized 105 pounds of marijuana after a traffic stop in Carson County Thursday.

Around 7:26 p.m. on Thursday, DPS says a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper stopped a 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan traveling eastbound on I-40 near Conway for a traffic violation.

A DPS Canine unit arrived on-scene and alerted to possible drugs in the vehicle. According to DPS, the trooper then discovered multiple vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana stored inside luggage.

The driver, 30-year-old Josue Escobar of Glendale, California, was arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana. Escobar was transported and booked into the Carson County Jail.

According to DPS, the drugs were allegedly being transported from Los Angeles to Atlanta.
