DPS seeking help in solving 2004 murder of 21-year-old woman

TAYLOR, TX — The Texas Department of Public Safety is seeking help in solving the 2004 murder of a 21-year-old woman.

On August 25, 2004, Katara Deboise Johnson was working a late shift at a Taco Bell in Taylor. After work, she drove to her home on Dolan Street.

The next day, Johnson was found shot inside of her home. Her red Mitsubishi Lancer had been stolen and was later located at the Thorndale Community Pool.

The Texas Rangers are investigating the case in conjunction with the Williamson County Sheriff's Office Cold Case Unit and the Taylor Police Department.

DPS is offering an increased reward of up to $6,000 for information that leads to the arrest of the person or people responsible. To be eligible for the cash rewards, tipsters must provide information to authorities by calling the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477). All tips are anonymous.
