Dallas Police officer arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon family violence

DALLAS, TX — A Dallas Police Department officer has been arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon family violence.

According to Dallas PD, on Tuesday, July 23, Officer Kevin Thomas turned himself into the Dallas County Jail on an Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon Family Violence warrant out of the Lancaster Police Department. The charge is a second-degree felony.

Dallas PD says Officer Thomas has been an officer with the department since May 2014. Officer Thomas is currently assigned to the South Central Patrol Division.

Dallas PD says Officer Thomas has been placed on administrative leave pending an Internal Affairs administrative investigation.
