Missing child in Amber Alert found dead in vehicle in river in Texas

GAINESVILLE, TX — An amber alert was issued for 3-month-old Lyrik Brown who was last seen in Gainesville. Later on Tuesday, her body was found in a river in a vehicle.

Around 3:51 p.m., the Gainesville Police Department received information on the location of Jeremy Brown.

Brown was wanted in her disappearance.

Officers were immediately dispatched to the Red River at Interstate 35. Upon arrival, Jeremy Brown was located in the river next to an overturned vehicle that was submerged.

Jeremy Brown was removed from the river and medical personnel were on scene to assess him for any injuries. He was taken into custody on the warrant issued earlier in the day.

The vehicle was removed from the river and an infant was located inside the vehicle in a car seat. The family has been notified of this information and positive identification is pending.

The investigation is ongoing and the Cooke County Sheriff Department will be the point of contact for further information regarding the arrest of Jeremy Brown and the recovery of the infant.
