AMARILLO, TX — The Texas Department of Public Service discovered 118 pounds of marijuana in the back of a car during a traffic stop in Oldham County.

According to DPS, around 9:07 a.m. on Thursday, October 10, a DPS Trooper stopped a 2010 Honda Ridgeline that was traveling eastbound on I-40 near Vega for a traffic violation.

During the stop, the Trooper discovered multiple vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana inside the rear area of the vehicle.

The driver, 55-year-old Patrick Gallagher of Amarillo, Texas, and passenger, 37-year-old Richard Nicholson of Amarillo, Texas, were arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana. Gallagher and Nicholson were transported and booked into the Oldham County Jail.

DPS says the drugs were allegedly being transported from Bakersfield, California, to Wichita Falls, Texas.
