Several arrested in Nolanville for evading arrest, burglary of a vehicle, possession of controlled substance

NOLANVILLE, TX — On December 31, 2020, at 1:02 a.m., a Nolanville resident called in a suspicious person complaint that several people were in her neighbor’s driveway and was inside of her neighbor’s vehicle.

The reporting person gave a description of the vehicle and Sgt Davis, Cpl. Geddis and Officer Mora were dispatched to the area. As Cpl. Geddis approached the area, he noticed a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect's vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. As Cpl. Geddis began to exit his patrol unit the female driver drove off which initiated a pursuit.

After a successful deployment of spike strips by the Bell County Sheriff’s Deputies, the vehicle came to a stop in the area of Main St in Belton, the driver and rear passenger were taken into custody immediately.

A passenger, later identified as Esequiel Morales, evaded on foot but was apprehended shortly thereafter by a Nolanville Police Officer and Bell County Deputies. All offenders were arrested and transported to the Bell County Sheriff’s Jail. No one as well as officers were injured as a result.

The driver, identified as Chelsea Smith a 28-year-old female was charged with Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle, Burglary of a Vehicle and Possession of Controlled Substance.

The front passenger was identified as Esequiel Morales a 32-year-old male was charged with Evading Arrest and Burglary of a Vehicle.

The rear passenger, Brooke Cunniff a 23-year-old female, was charged with Burglary of a vehicle.

Items in the vehicle were inventoried and as of today Nolanville Police Investigator Zachary Oeller, has identified property inside of the vehicle related to active Burglary of Vehicle and Burglary of Habitation cases.

The active cases are in Harker Heights, Temple and Copperas Cove. The Nolanville Police Department will continue to identify the owners of the property of the remaining items in our possession.

On November 7, 2020, the Nolanville Police Department encountered these same offenders for various charges to include Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Burglary of a Vehicle and Possession of Controlled Substance.

Items in their possession at the time of their arrest were also related to active cases in Harker Heights, Belton, Temple and Killeen. A 4th person, Vadell Phillips an 18-year-old female, was also arrested at the time of that incident.

The Nolanville Police Department is working with detectives in each of the cities and will be pursuing additional charges when a thorough investigation is complete.
