KILLEEN, TX — The Texas house passed a plan that would allow voters to decide whether or not to ditch daylight saving time.

“I would rather it stay light longer in the evening because it seems like it's safer. And your own psyche. You want it to be light longer,” said Margaret Horn.

The added hour of sunlight also can be a boost for business.

“The more time we have, the more business we can have probably have, the more money we make,” said Rich Farhoud, an ice cream truck driver.

Lawmakers have debated about daylight saving time for years. But often couldn’t agree on what the permanent time should be daylight saving or standard time. If passed, it would be up to the voters to decide.

The decision is now heading to the senate.

If passed, voters would decide what time to set the clocks in the November election.
