GATESVILLE, TX — At approximately 5:34 AM on January 13, 2021, Gatesville Police were notified of a reported burglary in progress at the Bancorp ATM machine, located in the 2500 block of S. Business Hwy 36.

A passerby called 911 after seeing a Ford 250 suspiciously parked in the parking lot and observing several individuals breaking into the machine. The passerby slowed his vehicle and turned around to get a better look. Seeing this, the suspects fled the scene on foot.

Officers from Gatesville PD, TXDPS, and the Coryell County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene but were unsuccessful in locating the suspects.

It was found that they were able to force open the front of the ATM machine, but weren't able to access the safe that housed the money. The vehicle that was left at the scene had the ignition punched, indicating that it had been stolen. After being impounded, Gatesville police received information that was in fact stolen from a local hotel in Gatesville earlier that night.

Investigators are currently combing through video from multiple businesses, as well as other evidence, in an attempt to identify these suspects. Investigators also believe that these individuals may be linked to other ATM burglaries in the Central Texas area.
